The ultimate camp-out - 5,895m above sea level, spend the night sleeping under a myriad of stars at the crater rim on Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. The glacier is now just a small remnant of the ice cap that once crowned the summit of Kilimanjaro. Over the last 100 years approximately 85 percent of the ice cover has been lost to environmental factors. At this rate it will be completely gone before the end of this century.
As a young girl, I dreamed of climbing Kilimanjaro. My passion grew from viewing a painting in my grandmother's house of the majestic mountain. I promised myself one day I would get there to stand at the summit and see the glacier before it completely melted and left the peak bare. I'm so happy I never gave up on that dream.

This quote rings so true on a personal level. Kilimanjaro always inspires and surprises me. With each trek we experience the mountain as if it was the first time. On this day, I was simply trying to get a nice shot of Kibo peak when quite literally out of the blue, clouds blew down from the mountain and surrounded us in this mystical, magical foggy mist, and then just like that, it vanished. It was an unexpected and surreal moment I'll never forget. My heart belongs to Kili <3

This is Ana. Her mesmerizing smile captured our attention during our visit to a Masai boma (village).
Masai women don’t have an easy life. They are part of a semi-nomadic group and responsible for building their homes made from mud, sticks, and straw. In the Masai patriarchal society, women like Ana are often among their husband’s many wives, raising their children and tending to the household, while the men attend the cattle. What struck me about Ana was the somewhat shy, yet easy comfort, with which she gifted us her smile. Photographing her (with her permission of course) was one of those special unexpected moments that graced our visit to Ngorongoro. Lovely smile, lovely day, lovely memories.

Seeing these magnificent animals up close never ceases to inspire awe. We spotted this mama and baby giraffe grazing on the low bushes in the late afternoon on our way out of Ngorongoro Crater on the second day of our safari. And so the journey begins…we don’t even know where to begin recounting the incredible adventure spent with @thetravelization on our 5 day safari tour. Franconia Ridge Loop hike - one of the most challenging hikes in the Northeast, tested me physically and mentally without a doubt. Hiking up the Falling Rivers trail was spectacular and kept my mind engaged on the beautiful surroundings; birch trees with pretty orange-pink bark, green pines giving off their lovely fragrance, the calming sound of water rushing over rocks, and finally breaking through into the alpine zone to crest the ridge at over 5,000ft. Glorious mountains 🏔. These views always inspire; Mirror Lake, Half Dome, Yosemite Valley, El Capitan, all breathtakingly beautiful. On the last day in Yosemite our group drove up Glacier Point Road to start our trek to Sentinel Dome. It is a 3.2 mile strenuous hike, but the 360 degree views of the Sierra Mountains are absolutely incredible and so worth it. I could have spent the entire day gazing at those gorgeous vistas.
